Luke's Story
On the week of Thanksgiving we noticed our 6 year old, Luke, couldn't move his head.
This kicked off the chaos of doctors, hospitals, transfers, and unknowns. Our final stop was Children's Lutheran in Park Ridge. We ate a hearty Thanksgiving meal of chocolate chip pancakes and to our surprise, a box was delivered to our room. We spent our Thanksgiving making crafts from our Holiday Hero's kit. We crafted and chatted about pumpkin pie, antibiotics, and IV's.
That little kit wasn't just a box of craft supplies, it was distraction, connection, and hope in the midst of uncertainty. Luke is now healthy and still has his crafts displayed in his room; a reminder of the kindness of strangers. Thank you to Holiday Hero’s for giving children hope.
